Tom Carter

Tom's passion is to change the way the world recognises the importance of the interaction between physical exercise, health and performance. His strength lies in his ability to develop high performance cultures and success in sporting, personal and corporate environments. Tom recently retired after ten seasons of professional Rugby Union with the NSW Waratahs. His achievements include 85 State Caps (77 Super Rugby Caps), captaining his State in 2013, receiving the Waratah Medal for “On and Off Field Excellence" in 2011 and scoring two tries in his last appearance for his State against the British and Irish Lions in 2013. At a club level though, it is where Tom made his name playing 151 First Grade Games for Sydney University Rugby Club (6th Most Capped of all time), winning 8 First Grade Premierships (10 Club Premierships) and in 2003 attaining a University of Sydney Sporting Blue (Rugby Union)In addition to his own professional sporting career success, Tom is an accomplished Exercise Scientist with a proven track record in a variety of sporting disciplines, combining a passion for elite sporting performance and research. He has a particular interest in lifestyle-related diseases having been inspired by his wife who is a Doctor at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. Tom is the Vice President of Sydney University Sport and Fitness (SUSF). He has lead the strength and conditioning program for the highly successful Sydney University Cricket Club (SUCC) for the last three seasons. He also currently resides in the position of Chairman of Selectors for SUCC for the 2013/14 season. Tom’s qualifications and impressive sporting success belie the fact that his greatest strength lies in his ability to inspire and to drive individuals and teams to perform at a high level under almost any circumstance.
